Talking to a therapist doesn’t have to mean travelling to an appointment or sitting in an unfamiliar waiting room.
With online therapy, you can speak with Tony from a place where you feel comfortable and at a time that works for you.
Online sessions provide a convenient and confidential way to access professional support, wherever you are.
Online therapy is a normal therapy session that happens over a secure video call instead of in a consulting room. You talk, I listen, and we work through what’s going on together — exactly as we would face to face. The only real difference is that there’s no commute and no waiting room.
For most common difficulties — anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship problems, self-esteem — research consistently finds outcomes comparable to in-person work. The strongest predictor of a good result is the relationship between client and therapist, and that forms just as well on screen. Many people find it easier to speak openly from their own home.
No. You can book directly, and there’s no waiting list. If you’d prefer to talk to your GP first, that’s fine too, but it isn’t required.
The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. You’ll be asked what’s brought you here, a bit about your background and what you’d like to be different. There’s no script and nothing you have to disclose before you’re ready. By the end we’ll usually have a sense of whether we’re a good fit and how we might work together.
Relationship difficulties, work related issues and stress, low mood, grief and loss, life transitions, etc.
Fit matters more than almost anything else in therapy. I offer a FREE 15 minute introductory call, this allows you to ask questions and get a feel for how I work before committing. If it turns out we’re not the right match, I’ll happily point you toward someone who might be.
As the appointment is online, I work with clients anywhere in Ireland and across the world. I currently have clients across five continents.
A private space where you won’t be overheard, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Headphones help with both privacy and sound quality. A phone works, but a laptop or tablet is usually more comfortable.
I am open to using whatever form of communication works best for you – just ask.
You’re not the first. People take sessions from a parked car, a spare room, a booked meeting room at work, or with headphones on while others are out. If privacy is a real obstacle, mention it when you get in touch and we’ll work something out.
It happens occasionally and it isn’t a problem. Rejoin the link and we’ll pick up where we left off. If the connection can’t be restored, I’ll ring you and we’ll finish the session by phone.
Feel free to book via the online booking form on this site, via email (info@onlinetherapist.ie) or phone or message me 087 255 1475.
Sessions are 50 minutes. Most people start weekly, which helps build momentum early on, then move to fortnightly as things settle. There’s no fixed number of sessions — some people come for six weeks, others for much longer.
Sessions can take place via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp or phone. If using Zoom or Teams, you’ll get a link by email or WhatsApp — no account or software purchase needed, just click and join.
If you give at least 48 hours’ notice, there will be no charge. Cancellations inside that widow are charged in full, as the time has been reserved for you.
Yes — sessions are available Monday to Friday, 8am–8pm, with limited Saturday slots.
How much do you charge for a session?
The fee for sessions will be clarified and agreed upon during your free 15minute introductory call.
No. Online therapy is a scheduled service and I’m not available between sessions for crisis support. If you need help right now:
